Mission Statement

Tourniquets have been identified as one of the most critically needed medical supplies in the current invasion of Ukraine.
Most Ski Patrollers and EMTs have tourniquets in their first aid packs. As first responders our instinct is to help people in need. While sitting around the top shack on one of our last Ski Patrol Shifts of the season, discussing the brutal atrocities being carried out by the Russian military and how the death toll keeps rising at an alarming rate, we asked ourselves “So, what can we do to help people of Ukraine?” How about we send them our tourniquets?
The Tourniquet Project is looking for help from the first responder community to collect and donate new, unused tourniquets. If you are a ski patroller, EMT or first responder like us, and you have an unused tourniquet, please consider donating it for this urgent need!
Our Goal
- Our goal is to rally the Ski Patrol and EMS communities to work together as first responders and deliver needed supplies to the front lines in Ukraine.
- Our short term goal is to collect 20,000 donated tourniquets. We are also raising funds to pay for handling costs and transport for the tourniquets we collect.
Please join us and help save lives
Significant quantities of high-quality tourniquets are now very hard to come by in Europe, Canada and the U.S.
Low-quality and counterfeit tourniquets have been arriving into Ukraine via donations. These counterfeits cost lives because they fail when subjected to the stress of real-world use and cause the injured victim to bleed out.
We are collecting HIGH QUALITY unused tourniquets, preferably NAR CAT tourniquets made in the U.S. We are working with an experienced partner organization, Sunflower of Peace to be certain the tourniquets make it into the hands of Ukrainians who desperately need them. Transport is complex and very expensive so we also greatly appreciate donations of funds to cover this expense.
There are more than 30,000 Ski Patrollers in America – as well as over 400,000 nationally certified EMS personnel. If only a fraction of you donate your tourniquets, we can easily meet our goal.
Your donation will truly save lives!

FAQs
Counterfeits cost lives! How can I tell a counterfeit tourniquet?
One North American Rescue (NAR) Combat Action Tourniquet (CAT) sells for nearly $40 on Amazon plus the steep cost to get it to Ukraine. There are numerous reports of counterfeits on Amazon, eBay and other sites. Here are some links with detailed information about how to tell the difference:

How will we get the tourniquets to the right people?
We have partnered with a Boston-based organization, Sunflower of Peace. SOP is an established NGO and non-profit with a proven track record of delivering medical supplies to Ukraine since 2014 when the Russians first invaded Crimea. SOP has already shipped many life-saving supplies to the people of Ukraine, including first-aid backpacks and refill tourniquets, and they will help us to ensure that all of our critically needed donations get into the hands of the Ukrainian fighters. TTP and SOP will work together to get the tourniquets into the right hands in Ukraine.
Sunflower of Peace also offers the option for donors to buy tourniquets and other medical supplies directly from Amazon to be shipped directly to their stateside facilities. More information on Sunflower of Peace can be found on their web site:
